Program Policies
Each 21st Century Learning Centers is open for a total of 12 service hours during out-of school time for 32 weeks per year. Depending on the Learning Center this may include a combination of before and after school programming. A typical program begins with a snack and social activity for 30 minutes followed by homework assistance, project-based activity and/or recreational time.
We recommend your child enrolls for a minimum of six hours of service per week for maximum benefit including before and after school programs. 21st Century Scholars is not a drop-in program. Students are expected to attend the days they are enrolled. The flat fee of $80.00 remains the same no matter how many hours of service you enroll your child.
All students must observe and adhere to positive and acceptable behaviors as outlined in each school’s handbook. This includes positive behaviors during the out-of-school time program and while riding the bus. Once program activities have begun, no student is allowed to leave the building except by permission of the Learning Center Coordinator per parent request. A child’s termination or suspension from 21st Century program is at the discretion of the 21st Century program administration. 21st Century is not an entitlement program but a service provided for children and families in the community.
Transportation Policies
Late bus transportation is available by request for a per student fee of $40 for each 10-11 week Session for children who live between 1 mile and 1.5 miles from the school. Families who do not request transportation for their child must designate an adult (over 18) to pick up their child 15 minutes before the close of the center.
NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO WALK HOME ALONE.
